(1) Nut

(2) Spacer

(3) Washer

(4) Bolt

  1. Lubricate the threads of the bolts and the face of the washers with 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound before assembly.

  2. Align the joint between the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold in order to install the nuts and the bolts. Due to interference, the bolts, spacers, and washers must be assembled according to Illustration 2.

  3. Tighten all of the bolts on the joint to a snug fit.

  4. Tighten one bolt to the following torque:

    Torque ... 54 ± 5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb ft)

  5. Tighten a diagonally opposed bolt to the following torque:

    Torque ... 54 ± 5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb ft)

  6. Tighten the remaining two bolts to the following torque:

    Torque ... 54 ± 5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb ft)

  7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 in order to verify that the torque is 54 ± 5 N·m (40 ± 4 lb ft).

(5) Bolt

Tighten eight bolts on each turbine housing.

Torque ... 20 ± 1.5 N·m (15 ± 1 lb ft)

(6) Exhaust seal

Install the seal rings so that the gaps in the seals are spread apart by 45 degrees.

(7) Exhaust seal

Install the seal rings so that the gaps in the seals are spread apart by 45 degrees.

(8) Clamp

  1. Tighten the clamp to a torque of 14 ± 1 N·m (10 ± 1 lb ft).

  2. Tap lightly around the clamp with a soft faced hammer.

  3. Tighten the clamp again to a torque of 14 ± 1 N·m (10 ± 1 lb ft).
