Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

- Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to engine (22) and position engine (22). The weight of engine (22) is approximately 170 kg (375 lb).
- Install bolts (23) and the mounts.

- Install plate (21) .

- Connect harness assembly (18) and cable assembly (19) and install the mounting hardware.

- Position main hydraulic pump (17) and install bolts (16) .

- Position compressor assembly (15) and install bolts (14) .

- Connect cable assemblies (12) and (13) .

- Connect harness assemblies (8), (9), (10), and (11) .

- Connect hoses (6) and (7) and install clamps (5) .

- Position air cleaner assembly (3). Install bolts (2) .
- Tighten clamps (1) and (4) .
- Install the belts. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belts - Inspect/Adjust/Replace".
End By:
- Install the fan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan - Remove and Install".
- Install the alternator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Alternator - Remove and Install".
- Install the radiator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator - Remove and Install".
- Install the muffler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Muffler - Remove and Install".
