Spring (Blocking Bar) - Inspect

Usage:

Note: Weekly inspection of the quick coupler requires the removal of the work tool.

  1. Position the work tool on the ground in front of the machine.

  1. Uncouple the work tool. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Operation" for information on uncoupling the work tool.

  1. Extend the bucket cylinder in order to position the work tool completely under the stick.

    (3) Self-Securing Hook

  1. Move the electric switch for the quick coupler to the LOCK position and then hold the control lever for the bucket cylinder in the EXTEND position for 5 seconds in order to lock the self-securing hook (3). The blocking bar (1) will rotate downward and the blocking bar (1) will rest on the blocking bar's stop pin.

  1. Position the quick coupler on the ground.

  1. Stop the engine on the host machine. Remove the engine start switch key before exiting the machine. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual of the host machine for additional information.

  1. Inspect the entire blocking bar spring (2) for any signs of cracks. Replace the blocking bar spring (2) if cracks are present. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Spring (Blocking Bar) - Replace" for information on replacing the blocking bar spring.

  1. Inspect the outer leaf on the blocking bar spring (2) for wear. Measure the thickness of the outer leaf on the blocking bar spring (2). The original material's thickness of the outer leaf is 1.4 mm (0.055 inch). The original material's thickness of the inner leaf is 0.7 mm (0.028 inch). If the outer leaf is thinner than the inner leaf, the blocking bar spring must be replaced. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Spring (Blocking Bar) - Replace" for information on replacing the blocking bar spring (2) .
