Aftercooler - Remove and Install

Usage:

C4.4 MMC

Removal Procedure


    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the sea water from the aftercooler into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Sea Water Strainer - Clean/Inspect".

  2. Remove bolts (1).

  3. Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect hose (2).

  4. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect hoses (4) and (5).

  5. Remove bolts (3).

  6. Remove bolts (6). Remove aftercooler (7).

Installation Procedure

  1. Position aftercooler (7) onto the engine. Install bolts (6).

  2. Install bolts (3).

  3. Connect hoses (4) and (5). Tighten the hose clamps.

  4. Connect hose (2) and tighten the hose clamp.

  5. Position the inlet manifold. Install bolts (1).

  6. Fill the aftercooler with sea water. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Sea Water Strainer - Clean/Inspect".
