Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install

Usage:

C4.4 L1K

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the batteries.

  2. Place an identification mark on all of the harness assemblies that are connected to the electric starting motor.

  3. Disconnect ground harness assembly (1) from the electric starting motor.

  4. Disconnect harness assemblies (2), and (3) from the electric starting motor.

  5. Remove nuts (5) from the studs.

  6. Remove electric starting motor (4) from the flywheel housing.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install electric starting motor (4) on the flywheel housing.

  2. Install nuts (5) on the studs. Tighten nuts (5) to a torque of 44 N·m (32 lb ft).

  3. Connect harness assemblies (2), and (3) to the electric starting motor.

  4. Connect harness assembly (1) to the electric starting motor.

  5. Connect the batteries.
