Expansion Tank - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.

Steam can cause personal injury.

Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.

Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.


  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

  2. Disconnect hose assembly (1) and hose (4) from expansion tank (2).

  3. Disconnect hose (5) from expansion tank (2).

  4. Remove bolts (3) and expansion tank (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Place expansion tank (2) on the engine. Install bolts (3).

  2. Connect hose (5) to expansion tank (2).

  3. Connect hose (4) and hose assembly (1) to expansion tank (2).

  4. Refill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
