Special Instruction, REHS2143, "Product Link PL102C System Installation". Illustration 9 and Step 5e in the "Configure and Register the Product Link PL-102C" Section are incorrect. Replace Illustration 9 and Step 5e in the "Configure and Register the Product Link PL-102C" Section with the information below.

Step 5e in the "Configure and Register the Product Link PL-102C" Section of REHS2143 directs the technician to enter the machine serial number into the "Machine Serial Number Field". Illustration 9 from REHS2143 (shown below in Illustration 1) incorrectly shows the entire 17 character Product Identification Number (PIN) instead of the machine serial number.

Solution

Step 5e from the "Configure and Register the Product Link PL-102C" Section of REHS2143 should read as follows:

5. Click the "Configuration tab"

   5. If the "DBS Machine Make Code" equals "AA" (Caterpillar Machine), the 8-digit serial number of the machine must be entered into the "Machine Serial Number" field. The last eight characters of the PIN contain the serial number of the machine.

      As an example: PIN = CAT0120HG4MK12345; Machine S/N = 4MK12345

Replace Illustration 9 of REHS2143 (May 04) with the following corrected information.

If the "Machine Make Code" is anything other than "AA", or in other words, a non-Caterpillar machine, the serial number may contain any alphanumeric character up to twenty characters in length.
