All Machines

Introduction

This Special Instruction provides the guidelines for using the Cat high efficiency filter elements for the hydraulic oil system. The guidelines are also used with the high efficiency filter elements for the power train oil system.

Do not perform any procedure that is outlined in this publication or do not order parts until you understand the information that is contained in this document.

For correct maintenance procedures, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual and Service Manual for your machine.

Guidelines

  1. When you use the high efficiency filter as a standard filter, change the filter according to the hour interval that is in the machines Operation and Maintenance Manual.

  2. Use this high efficiency filter for clean out purposes after any system repair or debris invasion for no longer than 250 hours or the bypass indicator shows restriction, whichever comes first.

  3. Repeated use of the high efficiency filter as a clean out filter should be based on information from a particle count analysis.

  4. Once the source of continued elevated particle count is determined, the problem should be corrected as soon as possible.

  5. The protective bag should be left on the filter prior to installation in order to prevent contamination of the filter.
