Screed Plate (Main) - Remove and Install - CWF1-UP
Removal Procedure
- Raise the screed. Install tow point cylinder pins (1) in the same position on both sides.

- The screed must be at the null point before you work on the screed plates. Lower the screed on a flat surface.
- Turn both thickness controls (2) to the null position. Turn the thickness controls until you feel slack in the controls. The controls will turn easily with no drag when the controls are in the null position. Check both controls for null.

- Set the crown to zero.

- Remove bolts (3) and guard (4) .

- Loosen the bolts that hold up the takeup block (5). Remove master link (6) and chain (7) .

- Set the front crown housing and rear crown housing to zero.
- Install a piece of threaded rod (8), washers (10), and nuts (9) between the two main frame assemblies.

- Raise the screed. Extend the extenders. Move the extenders to the maximum slope.

- Remove the center bolt under each height adjuster group.

- Return the extenders to zero slope and retract the extenders. Lower the screed.
- Remove the remaining bolts (11) under each height adjuster group.

- Remove nuts (13) and the washers.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force. Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force. |
- Remove nuts (17), the washers, and springs (18) .
- Raise the screed. Use a lift truck and remove screed plate (15). The weight of the screed plate is approximately 169 kg (372 lb). Remove ten adjusters (14) and four adjusters (19) .
- If necessary, remove studs (12) and studs (16) from screed plate (15) .

- Apply Tooling (A) on the threads of studs (12) and studs (16). Tighten the studs to a torque of 104 N·m (77 lb ft).

- Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of ten adjusters (14) and the four adjusters (19). Set Dimension (X) to 6 mm (0.24 inch).

- Use a lift truck and position screed plate (15) underneath the screed. The weight of the screed plate is approximately 169 kg (372 lb). Lower the screed on the screed plate.

- Install the washer and nuts (13) on stud (12). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 71 N·m (52 lb ft).
- Install springs (18), the washers, and nuts (17) on studs (16). Tighten the nuts in order to achieve a spring height of 52 ± 2 mm (2 ± 0.1 inch).
- Install bolts (11) under each height adjuster group. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 370 N·m (273 lb ft).

- Install the center bolt under each height adjuster group. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 370 N·m (273 lb ft).

- Return the extenders to zero slope and retract the extenders. Lower the screed.
- Remove nuts (9), four washers (10), and threaded rod (8) .

- Install chain (7) and master link (6). Tighten the bolts that hold up the takeup block (5) .
