This diagnostic code is associated with the calibration of the lift valve and the tilt valve. The "Display" requested movement, but the valve took too long to get to the desired position.
System Response:
When this diagnostic code is active the calibration procedure is terminated.
Test Step 1. CHECK THE LASER TRANSMITTER
- Verify that the laser transmitter setup is stable.
Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Setup Procedures" in order to ensure the laser transmitter setup is stable. Repeat the valve calibration.
Expected Result:
A successful calibration causes the diagnostic code to become inactive.
Results:
- YES - A successful calibration causes the diagnostic code to become inactive. Return the machine to normal operation. Stop.
- NO - Calibration is not successful. The diagnostic code is still active. Proceed to Test Step 2 for further troubleshooting.
Test Step 2. CHECK OPERATION OF THE VALVE
- Use the "Test Valves" menu in order to determine if the valve is working correctly.
Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Modes of Operation-Configuration" for more information about the "Test Valves" menu.
- Inside the "Diagnostics" menu, toggle either the "right mast elevation/menu scroll" switch or the "left mast elevation/menu scroll" switch until "Test Valves" is highlighted.
- Press the OK/right reset button to select this item. A screen similar to the following appears:

- Press the cursor scroll button to change the percentage of power that will drive the valves.
Each time the cursor scroll button is pressed, the percentage of power will change by 1%.
Press the ESC/left reset button and the OK/right reset button simultaneously in order to reset the percentage of power to 100%

- Toggle the left mast elevation/menu scroll switch UP in order to signal the liftvalve to move the blade UP. Similarly, toggle the left mast elevation/menu scroll switch DOWN in order to signal the liftvalve to move the blade DOWN.

Once the system is placed in automatic mode, blade movement may occur. Ensure that all personnel are clear of the blade before you place the system in automatic mode. Personal injury or death from crushing could occur. |
- Toggle the right mast elevation/menu scroll switch UP in order to signal the tilt valve to move the blade to the right. Similarly, toggle the right mast elevation/menu scroll switch DOWN in order to signal the tilt valve to move the blade to the left.
- Press the OK/right reset button in order to return to the "Diagnostics" menu.
- Turn the power/setup switch to the "ON" position in order to return to the Guidance mode.
Expected Result:
The valve is working correctly.
Results:
- YES - The valve is working correctly.
Repair: Repeat the calibration.If the diagnostic code is still active, contact your dealership's Technical Communicator for a possible consultation with Caterpillar.
Stop.
- NO - The valve is not working correctly.
Repair: Refer to System operation, Troubleshooting & Testing and Adjusting, "Blade Reaction Time" for more information.
