The 108-0059 Retainer Plate for the wheel bearings in the final drives has been replaced with the 163-4527 Bearing Plate (1) in Illustration 1, and a 163-4526 Thrust Washer or a 185-3653 Thrust Washer (2). The new Retainer Plate (1) allows clearance for the new thrust washer (2) and the new thrust washer prevents possible wear to retainer plate (1) from contact with final drive sun gear (3) .

The 163-4527 Retainer Plate and the 163-4526 Thrust Washer are effective with the following machines. 980G Wheel Loaders (S/N: 9CM01505-UP; 2KR03393-UP; 2SR00590-UP), 824G Wheel Dozer (S/N: 4SN00448), 825G Soil Compactor (S/N: 6RN00366) and 826G Landfill Compactor (S/N: 7LN0000541-UP). The new parts are adaptable to first production of the machines that are listed. The 163-4526 Thrust Washer is not chamfered and the thrust washer can be installed in either direction.

The 163-4527 Retainer Plate and the 185-3653 Thrust Washer are effective with the following machines. 988F Series II Wheel Loader (S/N: 2ZR02037-UP), 834B Wheel Dozer (S/N: 7BR00720-UP) and 836 Landfill Compactor (S/N: 7FR00456-UP). These new parts are also adaptable to first production of the machines that are listed. 185-3653 Thrust Washer (3) has a chamfer on the inside diameter on one side only. The chamfered side should be placed against sun gear (3). This is shown in Illustration 2.

Note: Certain bearing kits for axles of machines that are listed may already include the thrust washers. DO NOT install a thrust washer on an earlier machine without first replacing the 108-0059 Retainer Plate with the 163-4527 Retainer Plate. Installing a thrust washer to an original 108-0059 Retainer Plate will cause harmful interference between the axle shaft and the final drive cover thrust plate.
