Self-Diagnostics
Caterpillar 电控发动机有进行自诊断测试的能力。 当系统检测到现行故障时，"诊断"灯会点亮。 诊断代码将被储存在电子控制模块（ECM）的永久性存储器中。 可使用下列部件检索诊断代码：
- Caterpillar 电子维修工具
- "诊断"灯
注: "诊断"灯必须由 OEM 或用户安装。
某些发动机安装了电子显示屏，可以直接阅读发动机诊断代码。 有关检索发动机诊断代码的更多信息，请参考安装指南。
现行代码代表目前存在的故障。 应该首先查明这些故障。 如果代码为现行状态，则"诊断"灯将以五秒钟的间隔闪烁闪烁代码。
记录的代码表示出现下列情况：
- 间歇故障
- 记录的事件
- 性能历史记录
自代码被记录后，故障可能已经被排除。 这些代码并不意味着需要进行修理。 这些代码是存在某一状况的指南或信号。 代码可能对故障诊断与排除有帮助。
当排除这些故障后，应清除相应的记录的故障代码。
