Gear Pump (Steering) - Disassemble

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the steering pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Steering) - Remove".

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform the disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

  1. Remove O-ring seal (2) from steering pump assembly (1) .

  1. Remove nut (3) and the washer. Remove gear (4) .

  1. Remove shaft key (5) from gear drive (6) .

  1. Remove bolts (7) and remove end cover (8) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (9) from end cover (8) .

  1. Remove backup seal (10) and seal (11) from end cover (8) .

  1. Remove steering pump housing (13) from end cover (12) .

  1. Remove bushing (15) and driven gear (14) from steering pump housing (13) .

  1. Remove drive gear (6) and bushing (16) from end cover (12) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (17) from end cover (12) .

  1. Remove backup seal (18) and seal (19) from end cover (12) .

  1. If necessary, remove lip seal (20) from end cover (12) .
