  • Description of Change: A new design of the suction bell is used in all 3500 steel fabricated oil pans. The new design for the suction bell has less mass and an improved support.

    Adaptable To: The new oil pan and the new internal components may be used on engines that were built with the former oil pan and the former internal components. The new serviceable components of the suction bell are not adaptable to the former oil pans. The former serviceable components of the suction bell are not adaptable to the new oil pans. The former components of the suction bell will continue to be serviced through the parts system. The former oil pans and the new oil pans are listed in Table 1.
