C7 Engines for Combat and Tactical Vehicles Caterpillar

0105-11 Very High Intake Manifold Air Temperature (64)

Usage:

C7 FML
Conditions Which Generate This Code:

The Engine Control Module (ECM) detects the following conditions:

  • The engine has been running for at least 30 seconds.

  • The intake manifold air temperature is greater than 110 °C (230 °F).

Note: This diagnostic code represents a critical event. This diagnostic code does not represent an electronic system fault.

System Response:

The check engine lamp will flash and the warning lamp will illuminate continuously.

Customer passwords are required to clear this diagnostic code.

"DIAG" will be displayed next to "Intake Manifold Air Temperature" on the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET).

None

This diagnostic code indicates an excessive temperature in the intake manifold.

Test Step 1. Check the Aftercooler

  1. Check the air-to-air aftercooler for debris and/or for restriction to the air flow.

Expected Result:

There are no restrictions to the air flow through the air-to-air aftercooler.

Results:

  • OK - There are no restrictions in the air flow.

Repair: Determine the cause of the high temperatures. Heavy loads and high ambient air temperatures could cause the temperature to be above the trip point.

    STOP

  • Not OK - There are restrictions in the air flow.

Repair: Remove the restrictions in the air flow.Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.

    STOP
