New terminology is now used for all service literature and service training literature. The new terminology describes the lockout of a machine function.
The following terms are the approved terminology for describing a lockout in all service literature and service training literature (excluding parts manuals):
- Hydraulic Lockout
- Hydraulic Lockout (Pilot)
- Transmission Lockout
The following terms are examples of the approved terminology for describing a lockout in parts manuals:
- "Valve Gp - Solenoid (Hydraulic Lockout)"
- "Valve Gp - Shutoff (Hydraulic Lockout)"
- "Switch Gp - Toggle (Hydraulic Lockout)"
The new terminology relates to the controls in the cab and the hydraulic valves of the function.
Note: The new terminology will now be in all service literature and service training literature. No updates will be made to the previous literature in order to only revise the terminology. As revisions are made and new literature is created, the new terminology will be added.
The following terms are a list of terms that were previously used in Caterpillar literature. These terms should no longer be used.

- "Hydraulic Lock Lever Control"
- "Implement Lockout Control"
- "Pilot Valve (On/Off)"
