Illustration 1 g00945433 - Remove nuts (1) and the bolts from the connecting rod.
Note: Do Not reuse nuts (1). Use new nuts in order to secure the connecting rod cap for reassembly.
- Remove connecting rod caps (2) and the connecting rod bearings.
Note: Inspect the connecting rod and connecting rod cap for the proper identification mark. The connecting rod and the connecting rod cap should have an etched number on the side. The number should match the cylinder number. Mark the connecting rod and the connecting rod cap, if necessary.
- Put a temporary identification mark on the top of the piston in order to indicate the cylinder number that is shown on the connecting rod. Put the temporary mark on the same side as the mark that is on the connecting rods in order to ensure correct assembly of the piston and the connecting rod.
Note: Do Not etch the top surface of the piston. Do Not allow scratches or stamped markings in the top surface of the piston.
- Push the pistons and the connecting rods through the top of the cylinder block.
- Repeat Steps 2 through 6 in order to remove the remaining pistons and connecting rods.
