NOTICE |
---|
Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Clean upper connecting rod bearing (1) and lubricate the bearing face with clean engine oil.
- Clean connecting rod cap (5) and the lower connecting rod bearing. Lubricate the bearing face with clean engine oil.
Note: Align Tabs (X) on connecting rod bearings (1) with the tab grooves in connecting rod (3) and connecting rod cap (5).
- Pull the connecting rod into position against the crankshaft.
Note: Do Not allow the connecting rod to contact the piston cooling jet.
- Install connecting rod cap (5) and the lower connecting rod bearing together in connecting rod (3).
Note: Ensure that the etched number on connecting rod bearing cap (5) matches the etched number on connecting rod (3). Ensure that the Numbers (Y) are on the same side.
- Install bolts (2) and new nuts (4) in the connecting rod (3). Tighten the nuts evenly to a torque of
125 N·m (92 lb ft) .Note: Do Not reuse the old nuts in order to secure the connecting rod cap.
- Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for the remaining connecting rod bearings.
