New Ignition Control Groups Are Available And A New Wiring Harness Is Available To Connect The Ignition Control Group To The Display Module For The Caterpillar Ignition System (CIS) {1550}

Usage:

G3612 1YG
Engines:
G3606 (S/N: 3XF)
G3608 (S/N: 4WF)
G3612 (S/N: 1YG)
G3616 (S/N: 4CG)

New Ignition Control Groups are available of the above engines that are equipped with a CIS. The table identifies the new Ignition Control Groups and the former Ignition Control Groups. The new Ignition Control Groups are direct replacements for the former Ignition Control Groups. The former Ignition Control Groups are cancelled.

Table 1
Engine     Part Number Of New Ignition Control Group     Part Number Of Former Ignition Control Group
G3606     227-5965     172-0060
G2608     227-5966     172-0061
G3612     227-5967     172-0062
G3616     227-5968     172-0063

Note: The clamps that secure the cover to the body of the Ignition Control Groups must be tightened evenly. When the cover is properly secured, the seal for the cover will prevent the entry of moisture. If the cover is not secured properly, moisture could enter the Ignition Control Group and damage could be a result.

Note: Be sure that the rubber mounts for the Ignition Control Group are not twisted when the rubber mounts are tightened. If the rubber mounts are twisted, the rubber mounts can not effectively isolate the Ignition Control Group from vibration.

The new 228-7496 Wiring Harness is also available to connect the Ignition Control Group to the Display Module for the CIS. The new 228-7496 Wiring Harness is a direct replacement for the former 152-0890 Wiring Harness. The former wiring harness is cancelled.

Note: The new 228-7496 Wiring Harness should be used whenever the Display Module for the CIS is used as a portable service tool. If the former 152-0890 Wiring Harness is used in a portable application, power must be removed from the CIS before the 152-0890 Wiring Harness is connected or disconnected. If the Display Module is dedicated to one engine, that Display Module should be permanently mounted in the appropriate enclosure in order to provide protection from the environment.
