If any of the parts on the engine oil pump are worn or damaged, the entire pump must be replaced. |
- If the shaft for the idler gear on the engine oil pump was removed, remove the excess retaining compound. Apply a new layer of Tooling (D) to the bore in the main bearing cap. Use a suitable press to install shaft (12).
Note: Ensure that the Lubrication Hole (X) in the shaft is located UP (toward the engine oil pump) before the shaft is pressed into the main bearing cap. Remove any surplus Tooling (D) from the shaft, and the main bearing cap.
- Drill a
6.35 mm (0.250 inch) hole to a depth of9.5 mm (0.37 inch) into shaft (12). Use the original hole for the dowel in the main bearing cap for the guide. Install a new dowel (14) in order to secure the shaft in the main bearing cap.
