(5) Transmission Output speed Sensor

  1. Remove transmission output speed sensor (5).

  2. Align one gear tooth with the speed sensor that is being set.

  3. Screw the sensor into the threaded hole by hand until the end of the sensor contacts the gear tooth.

  4. Back out the sensor by one-half turn (180 degrees in the counterclockwise direction). This sets the air gap to 0.71 mm (0.028 inch).

  5. Tighten locknut (4) to a torque of 25 ± 5 N·m (222 ± 45 lb in).

Note: Do not allow sensor (5) to turn as locknut (4) is tightened.

Use this same procedure in order to adjust all speed sensors.

Note: There are six speed sensors. These sensors are listed in Table 1.

Table 1
Speed Sensors
Location  Output  Number of Sensors
Transmission   Intermediate Speed  Two
Transmission   Output Speed  Two
Torque Converter  Output Speed  One
Engine  Engine Speed  One

In order to test the speed sensors, refer to the Service Manual, "Power Train Electronic Control System" for your machine.
