Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Install a new gasket for the engine oil filter base (2) .

- Install the engine oil filter base (2) to the cylinder block.
- Install four bolts (1) that secure the engine oil filter base (2) to the cylinder block.
- Install the cooling lines for the engine oil cooler. Tighten hose clamps (4) .
- Install a new oil filter (3) .
- If equipped, install the engine oil line to the engine oil filter base (2). Tighten the oil filter by hand. Refer to the instructions that are in the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for the correct installation procedure. Do not overtighten the oil filter.
