Local Start Procedure for Manual Paralleling with a Utility Source

  1. Place the controls in the following positions:

    ( 1 ) Turn the handle of the circuit breaker switch to the fully clockwise position. Release the handle. The handle will return to the center position. The red target will be visible.

  1. Place the engine control switch in the "MANUAL START" position.

    Note: The genset will perform these operations:

    • Start

    • Go to rated speed

    • Go to rated voltage

    Monitor the "SYNCHRONIZING" lights. When both lights are OFF, move the circuit breaker switch to the fully clockwise position. The red target will be visible. The generator circuit breaker will close. The genset will be paralleled with the utility.

The generator output is gradually increased to the setpoint for base load operation. The setpoint for base load operation was previously set by using the touchscreen display. The generator output will remain at the setpoint for base load operation until the unit receives a shutdown signal.

  1. Momentarily touch the button for "STOP UNLOAD" (6) .

    Note: The load control will gradually decrease the generator output to approximately zero kW.

  1. Open the generator circuit breaker before the generator reaches 0 kW.

  1. Move the engine control switch to the "COOLDOWN STOP" position.

The engine will run without a load for the cooldown period. The engine will automatically shut down.

Local Start for Manual Paralleling with a Utility Source PLC is NOT Running

  1. Place the controls in the following positions:

    Note: The manual loading potentiometer should be adjusted in order to provide a small load on the engine when the generator circuit breaker is closed.

  1. Monitor the synchronizing lights. When both lights are OFF, move the circuit breaker switch to the fully clockwise position.

    The red target will be visible. The generator circuit breaker will close. The genset will be paralleled with the utility.

  1. Gradually increase the potentiometer for the manual loading control (MLC) to the desired generator output.

The generator output will remain at this load level.

Remote Starting for Manual Paralleling With a Utility Source PLC is NOT Running

  1. Place the controls in the following positions:

  1. Move the engine control switch (ECS) to the "AUTO" position.

  1. Wire the remote start contact to the "BASE LOAD START" terminals. The remote start contacts must close for a one second pulse.

    The manual loading potentiometer should be adjusted in order to provide the desired load on the engine when the generator circuit breaker is closed.

    Soft loading is not enabled. There is no soft loading.

    The generator output will remain at this load level.

Remote Stop for Manual Paralleling With a Utility Source PLC is NOT Running
