Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the fuel filter base. Refer to the Disassembly and assembly, "Fuel Fiter Base - Remove".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Loosen hose clamp (2) and loosen hose clamps (4). Remove the hoses from the breather assembly (3) .

- Remove two bolts (1) that hold the breather assembly (3) to the cylinder block. Remove the breather assembly (3) from the engine.
- Remove crankcase breather element (5) from the housing (6) for the crankcase breather. Discard the breather element (5) .

Installation

- Install a new crankcase breather element (5) into the housing (6) for the crankcase breather .

- Install breather assembly (3) onto the engine and tighten two bolts (1). Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Torque Specifications" for the correct torques.

- Install the hoses and tighten the hose clamps (2) and (4). Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Standard Torque for Contant Torque Hose Clamps" for the correct torques.
End By: Install the fuel filter base. Refer to the Disassembly and assembly, "Fuel Filter Base - Install".
