Removal Procedure

  1. Place the system in bypass mode by turning the keyswitch to the Bypass position.

  1. Isolate the system from the load by closing the bypass circuit breakers.

  1. Open the circuit breaker for the output of the system.

  1. Open the AC circuit breaker for the input of the system.

  1. Allow the capacitor banks to bleed down for approximately 5 minutes.

Note: When the flywheel is spinning, the following components are energized: the bus, the armature leads and the fuses. Accomplish the procedure as quickly as possible. During the procedure, the rotor is spinning on the bottom bearing.

  1. Label all the input wires and all of the output wires.

  1. Disconnect the "APC I/O" connector from terminal "J1" (8) .

  1. Disconnect the "Power" connector from terminal "J2" (7) .

  1. Disconnect the "DC+" connector from terminal "J3" (4) .

  1. Disconnect the "DC-" connector from terminal "J4" (3) .

  1. Disconnect the "TFC+" connector from terminal "J5" (6) .

  1. Disconnect the "TFC-" connector from terminal "J6" (5) .

  1. Disconnect the "BFC+" connector from terminal "J7" (1) .

  1. Disconnect the "BFC-" connector from terminal "J8" (2) .

  1. Loosen two mounting bolts from the top of the heat sink assembly. Slide the module forward and remove the board.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the assembly. Torque the two mounting bolts from the top of the heat sink assembly to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).

  1. Connect the "BFC-" connector to terminal "J8" (2) .

  1. Connect the "BFC+" connector to terminal "J7" (1) .

  1. Connect the "TFC-" connector to terminal "J6" (5) .

  1. Connect the "TFC+" connector to terminal "J5" (6) .

  1. Connect the "DC-" connector to terminal "J4" (3) .

  1. Connect the "DC+" connector to terminal "J3" (4) .

  1. Connect the "Power" connector to terminal "J2" (7) .

  1. Connect the "APC I/O" connector to terminal "J1" (8) .

  1. Torque all of the terminals to 1.47 N·m (13 lb in).

  1. Calibrate the hall effect sensors. Proceed to Testing and Adjusting, "Flywheel Telemetry - Calibrate".
