Caterpillar's Service Information System (SIS) may be used to look up Full Load Setting (FLS) and Full Torque Setting (FTS) for rerates from SIS CD's and SIS DVD's.

After obtaining a new "Test Spec Number" from the Electronic Technician (ET), use the following procedure to look up FLS and FTS .

    1. Insert the Engine Performance Specifications CD or DVD into the CD drive or DVD drive of your computer.

    1. Select "Engine Performance Specs" from the SIS main menu on your computer.

    1. Input the new "Test Spec Number" for the rerate. (DO NOT enter an Engine Serial Number.)

    1. Click the "Specification" button.

    1. Select the range in the "Effective Serial" number for your specific engine.

    1. Click the "View" button.

    1. FLS and FTS values are displayed for the new "Test Spec Number".

    Reference

Guidelines for FLS and FTS changes for HD and MD truck engines.

    Reference

When you rerate outside of the current rating family, FLS and FTS should be changed to the values that are listed on the CD or the DVD. This requires a "Reason Code 5" factory password. Rerating a C-12 engine from 355 hp to 430 hp is one example.

    Reference

For MD truck engines, FLS and FTS should also be changed when the engine is rerated within the current rating family. Rerating within the current rating family requires a "Reason Code 5" factory password. Rerating a 3126B engine from 250 hp and 660 lb ft of torque to 250 hp and 800 lb ft of torque is one example.

    Reference

For HD truck engines, FLS and FTS should not be changed when the engine is rerated within the current rating family. Rerating within the current rating family does not require a "Reason Code 5" factory password. Rerating a 3406E engine from 475 hp and 1650 lb ft of torque to 475 hp and 1750 lb ft of torque is one example.

    Reference

For HD truck engines, FLS and FTS should be changed to 0/0 when the engine is rerated to a "field rerate only" rating. Rerating a 3406E engine from 375 hp to 410 hp "field rerate only" rating is one example.
