  • New backup rings and U-Cup Seals are available. The new backup rings can be used with the new U-Cup Seals. The new backup rings should be used when the groove for the U-Cup Seal has been damaged by corrosion.

The new U-Cup Seals may be smaller than the old seals. The new seal may rest in a pitted area if the new seal is smaller. Leakage under the seal may occur if the area under the seal is pitted.

A backup ring should be used behind the U-Cup Seal if the groove for the seal is pitted. The backup ring will properly position the new U-Cup Seal in order to prevent leakage. Using the new backup ring will also resist failure of the U-Cup Seal due to extrusion. This will extend the life of the sealing package.

The backup seal is adaptable to various hydraulic cylinders. Measure the diameter of the cylinder rod. Use the following chart in order to determine the correct part number of the backup ring. The backup ring is based on the diameter of the cylinder rod.
