Installation Procedure

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Note: The turbocharged 3054 engine uses an adapter housing for the engine oil filter base in order to supply oil to the turbocharger. The 3054B naturally aspirated engine does not use the adapter housing for the engine oil filter base. Engine oil filter base attaches directly to the engine block.
- If equipped, install the adapter housing for the engine oil filter base (1) on the engine block.

- If equipped, install four nuts (6) that secure the adapter housing for the engine oil filter base (1) to the engine block.
- If equipped, install the engine oil line (5) to the adapter housing for the engine oil filter base (1) .
- Install new gasket (3) for the engine oil filter base (2) .

- Install the engine oil filter base (2) to the adapter housing for the engine oil filter base (1) (if equipped).
- Install four bolts (4) that secure the engine oil filter base (2) to the adapter housing for the engine oil filter base (1) (if equipped).
End By: Install the engine oil filter and the engine oil cooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Cooler - Remove and install " for more information.
