There are two sensors for the transmission electronic control module (ECM):
- Transmission Speed Sensor
- Engine Speed Sensor
The transmission speed sensor is located on the transmission housing and the engine speed sensor is located on the flywheel housing. As gear teeth pass each of the sensors, an AC voltage signal is produced. The frequency of each AC voltage is proportional to the speed of the gear teeth. The control uses these signals in order to make shifting decisions.
