Start By:

  1. Remove the swivel joint. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Swivel - Remove".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Thoroughly clean the outside of the swivel joint prior to disassembly.

  2. Fasten the swivel joint to Tool (B), as shown. The weight of the swivel joint is 115 kg (250 lb).

  3. Remove five bolts (1) and cover (2) from outside housing (7).

  4. Remove O-ring seal (6) from outside housing (7).

  5. Remove three bolts (3), three washers (4), and retainer (5) from rotor (9).

  6. Use Tool (A) in order to separate outside housing (7) from rotor (9). The weight of outside housing (7) is 52 kg (115 lb). The weight of rotor (9) is 54 kg (120 lb).

  7. Remove eight O-ring seals (8) from outside housing (7).
