有的发动机配备了两个安装在发动机后部上的涡轮增压器。 其他发动机配备了四个安装在发动机中央上的四个涡轮增压器。 每一个涡轮增压器的涡轮侧都都连接至相应的排气歧管上。 每一个涡轮增压器的压缩机侧都通过管道与后冷器壳体相连。 涡轮增压器由中央排气弯头进行支撑。

排气流入涡轮壳体 (8) 的排气进口。 排气继而推动涡轮叶轮 (9) 的叶片。 涡轮叶轮和压缩机叶轮 (4) 的转速最高可达 60,000 rpm。

压缩机叶轮的旋转作用将来自空气滤清器的清洁空气抽进进气口 (10) 。 压缩机叶轮叶片的旋转作用使进气得到压缩。 压缩的进气将使发动机发出更大功率,这是因为压缩的进气使得发动机能够以更高的效率燃烧更多的燃油。

涡轮增压器 (1) 的最高转速由燃油设定、海拔高度和进气阻力控制。


注意

如果燃油设定值高于TMI(技术市场信息)中的给定值,可能对发动机或涡轮增压器零件有损害。由于较高的发动机的输出超出了发动机的冷却和润滑系统的能力,增高的热量和/或加大的摩擦将导致零件损坏。只有受过正规培训的技师才能进行燃油设定值和高怠速转速设定值的调整。


涡轮增压器中的轴承 (5) 和轴承 (7) 使用发动机机油进行压力润滑。 发动机机油通过机油供油管 (3) 流至机油进口 (6) 。 机油继而经由中段内的油道以润滑轴承。 发动机机油从底部的机油出口 (11) 流出。 发动机机油然后通过机油排油管 (2) 流回到飞轮壳体。
