Refer to the Service Magazine article that is referenced above. The use of the "W" on the viscosity grade of the oils was incorrect. The corrected article is shown below.
The use of TDTO SAE 60 power train oil in the differentials and final drives of the listed machines is not recommended.
TDTO SAE 60 power train oil has a 30 percent greater viscosity than TDTO SAE 50 power train oil. The increased viscosity can reduce performance and the increased viscosity can increase fuel consumption. Cold start-up conditions can produce metal-to-metal contact in the bearings and in the gears. The use of TDTO SAE 60 power train oil is not recommended in any application that uses a pump. Regardless of ambient temperatures and continuous operation, do not use TDTO SAE 60 power train oil in any of the differentials and final drives of the listed machines which are equipped with a axle oil cooler.
TDTO SAE 60 power train oil may be used in the differentials and final drives of the 994 and 994D Wheel Loaders in conditions with high ambient temperatures and continuous operation. TDTO SAE 60 power train oil can be used on the 994 and 994D Wheel Loaders because the compartment for the service brake and the cooler for the service brake are separate from the compartments for the differential and the final drive.
