(1) Timing marks for the idler gear and the camshaft gear

- Make sure that the timing marks on the gears are in alignment.
- Measure the backlash between the camshaft gear and the idler gear. Refer to Specifications, "Gear Group (Front)" for the correct value.
- Measure the backlash between the fuel injection pump gear and the idler gear. Refer to Specifications, "Gear Group (Front)" for the correct value.
- If the backlash is not within the specification, the gears must be replaced. Check the backlash again.
