Description of Change: A new seal is used in the alternator mounting group on these machines and remanufactured machine engines. The new seal includes a dust lip. The former seal did not have a dust lip. The dust lip helps prevent foreign material from damaging the inner lip of the seal. This will help prevent oil leaks past the new seal.
Adaptable To: The new 189-5178 Seal is a direct replacement for the 9X-4612 Lip Seal in the following groups:
- The 7E-4836 Alternator Mounting Gp
- The 141-7115 Alternator Mounting Gp
- The 112-6035 Accessory Drive Gp
