(15) Location of the I/O Module

The customer interfaces are accessible through the System I/O Module. The System I/O Module is located inside the left front door of the system. See illustration 2.

Remote Emergency Power Off Switch

The remote emergency power off switch is an external interface. This interface is intended for use by the customer when a custom system is set up. The remote switch is equivalent to the local switch.

The connector consists of two pairs of contacts. One pair of contacts is for a normally open switch and the other pair is for a normally closed switch. The switches may be used individually or the switches may be used together. The contacts are located on the I/O module. See illustration 1.

Note: If the normally closed remote switch is not used, this pair of contacts must be jumpered for normal operation.

Connector "J7" (Input (Customer))

The system has six pairs of contacts for input. The contacts are "A" type. The contacts are located on the System I/O Module. See illustration 1. Each input is intended to interface to a single-pole single-throw switch. The switch connects the pair of contacts or the switch disconnects the pair of contacts. Illustration 3 refers to the connector pin designations for connector "J7" on the System I/O Module.

The contacts that are user programmable have an operating parameter. The operating parameter is used in order to configure that contact.

The following list of functions can be assigned to the contacts for the remote input block by entering the parameter in the operating parameter for the associated remote input. Refer to the following tables.

Table 1
List of Functions for the Input Contact
Function     Description
0     No function
1     "On Generator" (1)
2     Remote Switching of the UPS to Bypass Mode
3     Remote switching of the UPS to the On-line Mode (2)
4     Building Alarm 1 (3)
5     Building Alarm 2 (3)

8     Fire Alarm (3)
9     Remote Alarm Silence (4)
10     "Generator Set Start Breaker Open" (5) (6)
This is an example. There is a notice of "No Generator Set Start Power", if a breaker is required by the NEC.

15     "User Defined Message 1 Alarm" (8)
16     "User Defined Message 2 Alarm" (8)
( 1 ) This function allows different limits to be set for the following items: Transient Voltage Detection, Maximum Input Current and the operating parameters for the Walk-in Rate.
( 2 ) This is available only if there are no errors that are active.
( 3 ) This will trigger an output contact for an External Alarm.
( 4 ) The Remote Alarm Silence will silence the buzzer when a Notice and/or an Alarm is active.
( 5 ) A message is printed stating that the breaker is open when the input is activated.
( 6 ) A message is printed stating that the breaker is closed when the input is deactivated.
( 7 ) A message is printed when the input is activated and/or deactivated.
( 8 ) This is used in order to configure messages for the user in UPS View.

Connector "J6" (Output (Customer))

The system has six pairs of contacts for output. The contacts are "C" type. The pairs of contacts act as a single-pole double-throw switch. The contacts can be configured using UPS View in order to indicate if certain conditions exist. Illustration 4 refers to the connector pin designations for connector "J6" on the System I/O Module.

The contacts that are user programmable have an operating parameter that is used to configure that contact. The following list of functions can be assigned to the remote output contacts by entering the parameter in the operating parameter for the associated remote output.

List of Functions for the Output Contact
Function     Description
0     No function
1-100     "Flywheel Percent Energy" (1)
101     "On-line (normal)"
102     "On Bypass"
103     "Flywheel Discharging"

115     "Pulsed Genset Stop" (4) (5)
116     "ATS Command" (6)
( 1 ) The flywheel has the percentage of programmed usable energy that is available and the system is on-line.
( 2 ) This function becomes active by programming the remote inputs to a building alarm or a fire alarm.
( 3 ) The system is in bypass mode due to an overload condition.
( 4 ) This function is used with the Generator Set Start Module.
( 5 ) This function will enable the manual start.
( 6 ) This function is used with operating parameter "ATS Command Level". The contact closes when the unit is in discharge and the total energy that is available in the system drops below a level that has been preset.
