Diode Assembly - Test

- Set the multimeter to the diode scale. Connect the multimeter black lead to the cathode terminal (1). Individually connect the multimeter red lead to each anode terminal (2), and make a note of all three measurements: (A to 1), (B to 1) and (C to 1) .
- All three measurements should be between 0.4 and 0.9 volts. If any of the measurements are incorrect, then replace the diode assembly. A low measurement indicates a shorted diode, and a high measurement indicates an open diode.
- Set the multimeter to the diode scale. Connect the multimeter red lead to the cathode terminal (1). Individually connect the multimeter black lead to each anode terminal (2), and make a note of all three measurements: (A to 1), (B to 1) and (C to 1) .
- All three measurements should be "OL". If any of the measurements are incorrect, then replace the diode assembly. The "OL" reading indicates a very high voltage drop. A low measurement indicates a shorted diode.
