(1) Cathode terminal

(2) Anode terminals

  1. Set the multimeter to the diode scale. Connect the multimeter black lead to the cathode terminal (1). Individually connect the multimeter red lead to each anode terminal (2), and make a note of all three measurements: (A to 1), (B to 1) and (C to 1) .

  1. All three measurements should be between 0.4 and 0.9 volts. If any of the measurements are incorrect, then replace the diode assembly. A low measurement indicates a shorted diode, and a high measurement indicates an open diode.

  1. Set the multimeter to the diode scale. Connect the multimeter red lead to the cathode terminal (1). Individually connect the multimeter black lead to each anode terminal (2), and make a note of all three measurements: (A to 1), (B to 1) and (C to 1) .

  1. All three measurements should be "OL". If any of the measurements are incorrect, then replace the diode assembly. The "OL" reading indicates a very high voltage drop. A low measurement indicates a shorted diode.
