Screed Plate Adjustment

Usage:

8-16B 2JN

------ WARNING! ------

In order to prevent personal injury from accidental screed movement, lock the screed in the RAISED position by using the travel lock lever in order to extend the lock pins, after the screed is fully raised.

----------------------

Note: The screed uses a flat plate that is not reversible. The plate must be replaced when the plate is worn. The nose pieces should be replaced when the screed plate is replaced.

Check for excessive wear on the bottom of the screed plate. Check the thickness of the plate and the smoothness of the plate. The screed plate must be properly adjusted in order to achieve a mat of good quality.

  1. Raise the screed. Lower the screed onto the lock pins.

  1. Use a stringline or a straight edge to check the screed plates for flatness.

  1. If the screed plate needs to be adjusted, add shims or remove shims across the nose piece and the front edge of the screed.

  1. Check the alignment of the plates for the extender with the main screed plates. When the rear edge of the extender plate is level with the main screed plate, the front edge of the extender plate should have a gap of approximately 3.175 mm (0.125 inch) between the plate and the straight edge. Make this check about 101.6 mm (4 inch) in from the outside edge of the screed plate. Check several points across the screed with a straight edge or a level that is 4 ft long.

  1. Level the rear edge of the screed plate with the screw adjusters. One full turn of the hex is equal to 2.1082 mm (0.083 inch) vertical movement of the plate. Turning one flat of the hex head is equal to 0.3556 mm (0.014 inch).

To lower the plate, turn the adjuster screws clockwise. To raise the plate, turn the adjuster screws counterclockwise.

  1. Repeat 4.
