Fuel Transfer Pump - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over disconnected fuel system component.

  1. Disconnect the fuel lines (1) from the fuel transfer pump (3). Cap all the male ends and plug all the female ends immediately after the lines are removed.

  1. Remove two bolts (2). Remove fuel transfer pump (3) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (4) from fuel transfer pump (2) .

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Do not allow dirt to enter the fuel system. Thoroughly clean the area around a fuel system component that will be disconnected. Fit a suitable cover over disconnected fuel system component.


Note: Check the condition of the O-rings. If the O-rings are worn, use new parts for replacement.

  1. Install O-ring seal (4) on fuel transfer pump (2) .

  1. Install fuel transfer pump (3) .

  1. Install two bolts (2) .

  1. Connect two fuel lines (1) to fuel transfer pump (3) .
