Utility Inverter Module - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

(1) Utility Inverter Module

The modules are positioned in the following order, front to rear:

  • "A" Phase

  • "B" Phase

  • "C" Phase

Remove the module for the "A" phase and remove the module for the "B" phase in order to remove the module for the "C" phase .

  1. Place the system in bypass mode by turning the keyswitch to the Bypass position.

  1. Isolate the system from the load by closing the bypass circuit breakers.

  1. Open the circuit breaker for the output of the system.

  1. Open the AC circuit breaker for the input of the system.

  1. Allow the capacitor banks to bleed down for approximately 5 minutes.

    Note: When the flywheel is spinning, the following components are energized: the bus, the armature leads and the fuses. Accomplish the procedure as quickly as possible. During the procedure, the rotor is spinning on the bottom bearing.

  1. Label all the input wires and all of the output wires.

  1. Disconnect cable "J1" (2) from the module. This is the power cable.

  1. Disconnect cable "J2" (3) from the module.

  1. Disconnect cable "J3" (4) from the module.

  1. Remove the four mounting screws from the positive connection and from the negative connection of the DC bus (5) .

  1. Loosen the two mounting bolts from the top of the module. Do not remove the bolts completely.

  1. Remove module (1) .

Installation Procedure

(1) Utility Inverter Module

  1. Install module (1) in the cabinet.

  1. Tighten the two mounting bolts at the top of the module. Torque the bolts to 5 N·m (40 lb in).

  1. Install the four mounting screws to the DC bus (5). Torque the screws to 11 N·m (100 lb in).

  1. Connect cable "J3" (4) to the module.

  1. Connect cable "J2" (3) to the module.

  1. Connect cable "J1" (2) to the module.

  1. Torque cable "J1" (2) to 9.04 N·m (80 lb in).
