Current Disassembly and Assembly manuals do not have instructions concerning the removal and installation of the main bearings on the crankshaft journals without oil holes. The following information will update current Disassembly and Assembly manuals. Disassembly and Assembly manuals will be revised with these updates. The 134-0932 Main Bearing Driver replaces the 8T-2681 Main Bearing Driver, which has been cancelled. The 134-0932 Main Bearing Driver can not be used on Number 4 main bearing journal without an oil hole. The Number 4 main bearing journal without an oil hole is on: 3606, G3606, 3612 and G3612 Engines. The 134-0932 Main Bearing Driver can not be used on Number 5 main bearing journal without an oil hole. The Number 5 main bearing journal without an oil hole is on: 3608, G3608, 3616 and G3616 Engines.
Crankshaft Main Bearing - Remove
On: 3606, G3606, 3612 and G3612 Engines, the Number 4 main bearing journal does not have an oil hole. The 134-0932 Main Bearing Driver cannot be used in order to roll the upper half of the main bearing in the cylinder block. In order to remove the Number 4 main bearing, protect the crankshaft and rap the end of the bearing without the tab with a narrow tool.
On: 3608, G3608, 3616 and G3616 Engines, the Number 5 main bearing journal does not have an oil hole. The 134-0932 Main Bearing Driver cannot be used in order to roll the upper half of the main bearing in the cylinder block. In order to remove the Number 5 main bearing, protect the crankshaft and rap the end of the bearing without the tab with a narrow tool.
It may be necessary to remove the load from the bearing if the bearing cannot be removed. In order to remove the load, loosen the main bearing cap of the bearing that is before the bearing that is being removed, and loosen the main bearing cap of the bearing that is after the bearing that is being removed. Then protect the crankshaft and rap the end of the bearing without the tab with a narrow tool.
Note: The bearing has a locating tab. When the bearing is viewed from the flywheel, clockwise rotation is required for the removal of the upper half of the bearing.
Crankshaft Main Bearings - Install
On: 3606, G3606, 3612 and G3612 Engines, the Number 4 main bearing journal does not have an oil hole. The 134-0932 Main Bearing Driver cannot be used in order to roll the upper half of the main bearing in the cylinder block. In order to install the Number 4 main bearing, protect the crankshaft and rap the end of the bearing with the tab with a narrow tool.
On: 3608, G3608, 3616 and G3616 Engines, the Number 5 main bearing journal does not have an oil hole. The 134-0932 Main Bearing Driver cannot be used in order to roll the upper half of the main bearing in the cylinder block. In order to install the Number 5 main bearing, protect the crankshaft and rap the end of the bearing with the tab with a narrow tool.
Note: The bearing has a locating tab. When the bearing is viewed from the flywheel, counterclockwise rotation is required for the installation of the upper half of the bearing. Ensure that the tab is properly seated in the groove. Ensure that the tab does not break in the groove.
Note: Always protect the crankshaft from potential damage during removal and installation of bearings.
