(1) Field Coil Driver Module (2) Flywheel Inverter "A" (3) Flywheel Inverter "C" (4) Flywheel Inverter "B" |
Remove the field coil driver module in order to gain access to the Flywheel Inverter module. Refer to Testing And Adjusting, "Field Coil Driver Module - Remove and Install".
The A phase module must be removed in order to access the B phase module. In order to access the C phase module, the A phase module and the B phase module must be removed.
- Place the system in bypass mode by turning the keyswitch to the Bypass position.
- Isolate the system from the load by closing the bypass circuit breakers.
- Open the circuit breaker for the output of the system.
- Open the AC circuit breaker for the input of the system.
- Allow the capacitor banks to bleed down for approximately 5 minutes.
Note: When the flywheel is spinning, the following components are energized: the bus, the armature leads and the fuses. Accomplish the procedure as quickly as possible. During the procedure, the rotor is spinning on the bottom bearing.
- Label all the input wires and all of the output wires.
- Disconnect cable "J2" from the module.
- Disconnect cable "J3" from the module.
- Remove the power cable from the inverter module.
- Remove the two mounting bolts from the positive connection of the DC bus.
- Remove the two mounting bolts from the negative connection of the DC bus.
- Loosen the two mounting bolts at the top of the heat sink assembly.
- Slide the module forward and remove the old assembly.

- Install the new assembly.
- Install the two mounting bolts that are for the negative connection of the DC bus. Torque the bolts to 11.3 N·m (100 lb in).
- Install the two mounting bolts that are for the positive connection of the DC bus. Torque the bolts to 11.3 N·m (100 lb in).
- Tighten the two mounting bolts at the top of the heat sink assembly. Torque the bolts to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).
- Connect the power cable to the inverter module. Torque the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Connect cable "J3" to the module.
- Connect cable "J2" to the module.
- Install the field coil driver module. Refer to Testing And Adjusting, "Field Coil Driver Module - Remove and Install".
Note: It is not necessary to recalibrate the field coils if the field coil driver module has not been replaced.
