This manual describes the designed application of the control system with low voltage power supply and torsional filtering.

Each control requires 40 W of power. A nominal current surge of 7 amperes is possible. Acceptable voltage range for the input is 18 to 40 VDC.

Input voltages send signals to the electronic control for such commands as increase speed and decrease speed. Each input signal requires 10 mA at a nominal rating of 24 VDC. The low voltage power supply may be used to power these signals.

Torsional filtering is provided on the control. This filtering is designed to minimize the effects of coupling vibration. This control provides smooth steady state control. This allows the control to be matched to the engine. This is better than compensating for coupling vibration. Removing the torsional effects of the flexible coupling often provides a much longer life to the coupling. When high torsional vibration occurs the demand for fuel can be limited by the control. The control can also activate an alarm.

The control has software which allows the control to respond only to changes in speed that can be corrected by changing the amount of fuel to the engine. Any variation in speed that is caused by changes of the torque across a flexible coupling will be ignored. Because the control dampens the response to changes in the torque, the control will not contribute to the oscillations. This reduces the stress on the coupling. This response occurs when different speeds are detected by two speed sensors. Two separate speed sensors must be used for this application to be effective. In this case, a separate speed sensor must be located on each side of the flexible coupling.
