Output Transfer Gears

(1) Case assembly

(2) Drive gear

(3) Bearings

(4) Shims

(5) Yoke assembly

(6) Shaft

(7) Gear

The output transfer gears are located at the output side of the transmission. The transmission output shaft is connected to drive gear (2) by splines.

Drive gear (2) is engaged with gear (7). Driven gear (7) is connected to shaft (6) by splines. Yoke assembly (5) is connected to the shaft by splines. The yoke assembly is connected to a drive shaft that goes to the differential.

The following list shows the flow of the power through the output transfer gears.

  • Flow of power from the transmission output shaft to drive gear (2)

  • Flow of power from drive gear (2) to driven gear (7)

  • Flow of power from driven gear (7) to shaft (6)

At shaft (6), the power goes through a drive shaft from yoke assembly (5) to the differential.

Shims (4) are used to make an adjustment to the end play of drive gear (2) .

Output Transfer Gear Lubrication

Since the transfer gear case is also the reservoir for the transmission circuit, all the return oil goes to the bottom of the case. The movement of the gears in the oil causes the oil to be thrown on all the components.
