Alternator Will Not Charge
- Loose drive belt or worn drive belt
- Faulty charging circuit, faulty ground return circuit or faulty battery connections
- Faulty rotor (field coil)
- Faulty brushes (if equipped)
Loose Drive Belt or Worn Drive Belt
- Inspect the condition of the alternator drive belts. If the alternator drive belts are worn or damaged, replace the belts.
- Check the drive belt for correct tension. If the tension for the drive belt is incorrect, adjust the drive belt to the correct tension.
Inspect the battery cables, wiring, and connections in the charging circuit. Clean all connections and tighten all connections. Replace any faulty parts.
Install a new rotor.

Install new brushes in the alternator.
