Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

    Note: Replacing all O-rings, gaskets and the shaft seal is recommended. Lightly oil moving parts with clean hydraulic oil and lubricate O-rings with petroleum jelly.

  1. Install two locating pins (63) in housing (4) .

  1. Install two bearing races (62) in housing (4) . The holes in the bearing races must be correctly lined up with two locating pins (63) .

  1. Install bearings (61) on bearing races (62) in housing (4) .

  1. Carefully install rotating group (57) in housing (4) .

  1. Lubricate O-ring (60) . Install O-ring (60) and piston ring (59) on servo piston (58) . Repeat for the other end of the piston.

  1. Tilt rotating group (57) in housing (4) , as shown. Install servo piston (58) .

  1. Install slider block (55) in servo piston (58) .

  1. Align rotating group (57) in housing (4) and insert servo arm (56) in slider block (55) .

  1. Lubricate O-rings (54) and (53) . Install O-rings (54) and (53) on servo cylinder (52) and repeat for the other servo cylinder.

  1. Install servo cylinder (52) in housing (4) . The servo piston (58) must be installed correctly in servo cylinder (52) . Repeat for the other side.

  1. Install three bolts (51) in servo cylinder (52) and repeat for the other servo cylinder. Tighten bolts (51) to a torque of 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  1. Position link (49) in the slot on bearings (61) and install link (49) on pin (50) . The link must be positioned underneath the small washer on pin (50) . Line up the other end of link (49) with the hole in housing (4) . Install pin (48) through the link and in the hole in housing (4) .

  1. Position leveler (40) in slots on side cover (43) and install two guide posts (47) through leveler (40) and side cover (43) . Install two nuts (46) and tighten to a torque of 23 N·m (17.0 lb ft).

  1. Lubricate O-ring (45) . Install O-ring (45) on side cover (43) .

  1. Hold leveler (40) up so that the leveler clears rotating group (57) . Install side cover (43) on housing (4) . The marks that were made during disassembly must line up. Install six new bolts (44) until the bolts are tight and side cover (43) can be rotated with resistance. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.

    Note: The bolt threads for the cover are coated with a special sealant. Reused bolts must have clean threads. The bolt holes should be tapped. Then apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock to the threads.

  1. Install two alignment pins (42) in housing (4) and in valve plate (42) , if the alignment pins were removed.

  1. Install two spring seats (39) on leveler (40) (not shown).

  1. Install three springs (38) in housing (4) .

    Note: The two longer springs go on the spring seats and the short spring goes on the servo arm.

  1. Install Tooling (D) . Position the tool on the short spring that was installed in step 18. The spring must be aligned with the locator on the bottom side of Tooling (D) . Align the two springs with the two locators on the bottom side of the Tooling (D) . Fasten the plate to the housing with four 8T-4195 bolts .

  1. Use Tooling (C) and take two measurements. The hole in Tooling (D) has two slots that are 180 degrees from each other. Take the measurements from the two slots. The swashplate is considered level when the difference between the two measurements is less than 0.025 mm (0.0010 inch).

  1. Install gasket (37) on housing (4) .

  1. Install two check valves (36) in the face of end cap (5) . Tighten to a torque of 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  1. Install two shim washers (35) in the spring bores in end cap (5) .

    Note: The three springs must be seated correctly in the spring bores in end cap (5) . The alignment pins must be seated correctly.

  1. Install end cap (5) on housing (4) .

  1. Install two screws (33) and lifting bracket (34) through end cap (5) in housing (4) . Torque screws (33) to 38 N·m (28.0 lb ft).

  1. Install bearing (32) on shaft (17) .

  1. Use Tooling (B) in order to install retaining ring (30) on shaft (17) .

  1. Use Tooling (A) in order to install seal (29) in seal carrier (27) . Install O-ring (28) .

  1. Lubricate the sealing lip with 155-0710 grease and install seal carrier (27) on shaft (17) .

    Note: If the splines are not aligned, the shaft will not go in housing (4) . The shaft should rotate freely.

  1. Lubricate O-ring (28) and install shaft (17) in housing (4) . The splines on the middle of shaft (17) must align with the splines on the inside of the rotating group.

  1. Install retainer plate (26) on top of the seal carrier in housing (4) .

  1. Install three screws (25) in retainer plate (26) and tighten to a torque of 13 N·m (115 lb in). Install O-ring (24) on housing (4) .

    Note: Mark the location of alignment pin (23) for assembly purposes. Install pin (23) in the hole (X) . This determines the rotation of the charge pump. The hole in the port plate must align with the alignment pin.

  1. Install alignment pin (23) and inner port plate (22) in end cap (5) .

  1. Install eccentric ring (21) in end cap (5) . The hole must line up with the alignment pin.

  1. Align the blind hole in pump cover (15) with alignment pin (23) . Install the pump cover in end cap (5) .

  1. Install six bolts (13) in retainer (14) . Tighten bolts (13) to a torque of 13 N·m (115 lb in).

  1. Install relief valve adjustment plug (11) in end cap (5) . Use a flat head screwdriver in order to install relief valve adjustment plug (11) . The marks on end cap (5) , locknut (12) and the relief valve adjustment plug must line up. Tighten the relief valve adjustment plug to the torque of 52 N·m (38.0 lb ft).

  1. Lubricate O-ring (10) and auxiliary mounting pad (9) . Install O-ring (10) and auxiliary mounting pad (9) . Tighten to a torque of 259 N·m (189.0 lb ft).

  1. Install multifunction valves (6) and (7) in end cap (5) . Tighten to a torque of 86 N·m (66.0 lb ft).

  1. Install gasket (3) on housing (4) . Line up pin (64) on hydraulic displacement control valve (2) with the hole in link (65) . Install hydraulic displacement control valve (2) on housing (4) .

  1. Install six screws (1) in hydraulic displacement control valve (2) . Tighten to a torque of 16 N·m (140 lb in).

    Note: Rotate the pump shaft with a torque wrench. The torque should be between 7 ± 14 N·m (60 ± 125 lb in) in order to rotate the pump shaft.

End By: Install the steering pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Pump - Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
