3606 and 3608 Engines Caterpillar

The 3606 Engines and the 3608 Engines may use a combined circuit for the cooling system or the 3606 Engines and the 3608 Engines may use a separate circuit for the cooling system. In both systems, the water pumps are mounted on the front housing and driven by the front gear train. The right side water pump supplies coolant to the cylinder heads, the cylinder block and the turbocharger. This is known as the high temperature circuit. The left side water pump supplies coolant to the aftercooler and to the oil coolers. This is known as the low temperature circuit. The water temperature regulators maintain the temperature of the water to the cylinder block at a specified temperature.
