Removal Procedure

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Disconnect electrical connector (5) for the air inlet heater, if necessary.

  1. Disconnect fuel line (6) from the air inlet heater.

  1. Remove two bolts (7) that hold the fuel line to inlet manifold (14) .

  1. Loosen two hose clamps (8) from the hose that connects the inlet manifold (14) to the turbocharger.

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (9) from the turbocharger.

  1. Remove four bolts (3) in order to remove elbow (2) and gasket (4) .

  1. Disconnect boost pressure inlet (10) from inlet manifold (14) .

  1. Remove bolts (12) that hold the turbocharger support to inlet manifold (14) .

  1. Remove bolts (13) that hold inlet manifold (14) to the cylinder head.

  1. Remove inlet manifold (14) and gaskets (11) .

  1. Remove seal (1) that covers the gap between inlet manifold (14) and the valve mechanism cover.
