Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Drain coolant from the radiator. Refer to Operation and Maintenance, SEBU7203, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change".
Pressurized system: Hot coolant can cause serious burn. To open cap, stop engine, wait until radiator is cool. Then loosen cap slowly to relieve the pressure. |

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Loosen clamp (1) and remove hose (2) aside.

- Remove two bolts (3) and washers.

- Remove water temperature regulator housing (4) and gasket (5) from the engine.
- Remove water temperature regulator (6) from the engine.

Installation Procedure
- Install water temperature regulator (6) into the engine, as shown above.

- Install gasket (5) and water temperature regulator housing (4) to the engine.

- Install washers and two bolts (3). Tighten the bolts.
- Install hose (2) and tighten clamp (1) .
