Removal Procedure
Personal injury or death can result from a fire. Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system. Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters. |

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Note: Put identification marks on all lines and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines and all tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
- Open the hood.
- Remove two lines (1) .

- Remove ring (2) .

- Remove fuel filter element (3) .
- Remove two bolts (4) and washers.

- Remove fuel filter base (5) .
Installation Procedure
- Install fuel filter base (5) with washers and two bolts (4). Tighten the bolts.

- Install fuel filter element (3) into the fuel filter base.

- Install ring (2) to the fuel filter base.
- Install two lines (1) .

- Close the hood.
