Alternator - Remove and Install
Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the seat. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR2848, "Seat - Remove and Install".
Note: Remove the negative lead from the battery before you work on the alternator.
Note: Put identification marks on all wires for installation purposes.
- Open the hood.
- Remove six bolts (1) and washers.

- Remove access panel (2) .
- Remove bolt (3) and the washer from the engine compartment. Move the alternator toward the engine in order to relieve tension on the belt.

- Remove belt (4) from the alternator pulley.
- Disconnect electrical wire (5) .

- Remove nut (6) and cable (7) from the alternator.
- Disconnect electrical plug (8) .
- Remove the nut, the washers, the spacer, and bolt (9) from the alternator.

- Remove alternator (10) through the access panel.
Installation Procedure
- Install alternator (10) through the access panel.

- Install the bolt, the washers, the spacer, and nut (9) to the alternator. Tighten the bolt and nut (9) .
- Connect electrical plug (8) .

- Install cable (7) and nut (6) to the alternator.
- Connect electrical wire (5) .
- Install belt (4) to the alternator pulley.

- Install the washer and bolt (3) from the engine compartment. Do not tighten the bolt at this time. Pull the alternator away from the engine in order to tension the belt. Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 28 ± 7 N·m (21 ± 5 lb ft).
- Install access panel (2) with washers and six bolts (1). Tighten the bolts.

- Install the negative lead on the battery.
- Close the engine hood.
End By: Install the seat. Refer to Disassembly and AssemblyRENR2848, "Seat - Remove and Install".
